Un-restored Frame. The frame is in original “found” condition. Dirty and the gold leaf almost completely hidden.
Fully Restored Frame. The frame was cleaned by removing carbon type dirt and dust. The dirt and dust was removed in small sections at a time using chemicals in combination that would remove the dirt but not harm the gold leaf. The new parts of the frame that were added, were gold leafed in a similar manor as done originally and then the new gold was antiqued to match the existing cleaned gold finish.
